Brine mixing concentrations and amounts
See how much you can save by reducing material costs with an optional liquid system
*Calculations based on the following application rates: Dry salt 30g/m2, Pre-Wet 17g/m2, Brine 35ml/m2. With a Pre-Wet system the application rate is significantly lower, as the pre-wetted salt bonds to the ground and immediately start breaking up the ice.
You can save in material costs annually
Water volume | -7°C at 10% NaCl (rock salt) | -11°C at 15% NaCl (rock salt) | -21°C at 23,3% NaCl (rock salt) |
---|---|---|---|
200 l | 22 kg | 35 kg | 60 kg |
400 l | 44 kg | 70 kg | 121 kg |
600 l | 67 kg | 106 kg | 182 kg |
800 l | 89 kg | 141 kg | 243 kg |
1000 l | 111 kg | 176 kg | 304 kg |
1200 l | 133 kg | 212 kg | 364 kg |
Add 70 kg of rock salt to 400 l fresh water to get a 15% solution. Make sure that the volume of your mixing tank is larger than 400 l.
These proportions are only approximations and rounded values. Other factors, such as the purity of the salt and the current water temperature may also affect the solution %. Determine the exact concentration of the brine liquid by using a hydrometer.
